On 29 August 2024, a number of families seeking international protection, who had been placed in hotel accommodation by the Home Office contractor Mears Group, contacted PPR to say that they had had a meeting with Education Authority staff around children’s enrolment for the upcoming school year. They reported that at that meeting, EA staff had made them understand that they would not able to enrol their children in schools as long as they were residing in the hotel.
